Frida Kahlo de Rivera was a Mexican painter and artist who was best known for her remarkably beautiful self-portraits.  Kahlo was born in Coyoacán, Mexico on July 6, 1907 and died on July 13, 1954

“Her work has been celebrated in Mexico as emblematic of national and indigenous tradition, and by feminists for its uncompromising depiction of the female experience and form.” [Source:  Wikipedia's Frida Kahlo entry]

Kahlo’s work has been featured at the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Fundación Proa, Buenos Aires (a joint exhibit with the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, New York), the Frida Kahlo Museum (website is in Spanish), in Coyoacán, Mexico, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, New York, the Phoenix Art Museum in Phoenix, Arizona, and at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco, California, among other places.
