ALA Accredited Master’s Programs in Library and Information Studies
Choosing an MLS Program
For help in choosing an MLS program read The American Library Association’s (ALA) “Guidelines for Choosing a Master’s Program in Library and Information Studies” which discusses (among other things) why you should choose a college or university that has an ALA accredited MLS program and how to choose the right one, evaluating program requirements and curricula, flexibility and distance learning options, and financing your education.
Find an ALA Accredited MLS Program
The American Library Association maintains a database of accredited MLS programs. Each entry in the database includes contact information, program name, date through which it is accredited, and distance education opportunities that may be available. The database is searchable by state/province, distance education options, degree type, and specific institution.
