Website Privacy Policy
Protecting Your Privacy
The Board of Trustees and staff of Asbury Park Public Library recognize our patrons’ concerns about privacy on the Internet. This Privacy Statement explains how we deal with the personal information that we may collect from our patrons.
When visiting the Asbury Park Public Library websites ( APPL Online – www.asburyparklibrary.org, or APPL Cat – www.asburyparklibrarycat.org) and using our electronic services, patrons can choose to provide their name, e-mail address, library card number, phone number, home address, or other personal information. This information will only be used to fulfill patron’s service needs and to help the APPL improve and target its services more effectively.
Cookies may be used for these same purposes. A cookie is a small piece of software that is placed by a web server onto a user’s personal computer and is then used to personalize the site when the visitor returns (an example would be a website greeting “Hi Susie” when a visitor returns to the website). Our staff understands that access to patron, transaction, and collection files is strictly limited to Library business. Information about patrons and patrons’ transactions will not be made available to any unauthorized individual or to any external agency.
Our website is hosted by the New Jersey State Library, an organization that takes privacy and security very seriously. However, we cannot guarantee that our website is 100% secure 100% of the time. No website can. We can only ensure you that every step has been taken to keep your private information secure.
Our patrons should also be aware that they are subject to the privacy policies of any other websites and organizations that they visit and use.
